About Me

Hello! I'm Rebecca, an Art Psychotherapist based in Hertfordshire, Tring. I completed my Art Therapy masters at the University of Hertfordshire in 2019 and have since worked as an Art Therapist within schools, inpatient services, children's residential care and the voluntary sector, supporting adults, children and young people.

Before training as an Art Therapist, I studied Fine Art at the University of Southampton and following this, worked as a Support worker working with individuals with learning disabilities, Autism and mental health needs.

My Approach

My approach is informed by Psychodynamic and contemporary developmental theories, with attention to how past experiences and early relationships can shape present patterns, thoughts, feelings, behaviours and ways of relating.

I work mostly in a non-directive way, meaning sessions are guided by you and move at a pace that feels safe and manageable. You are supported to choose how you engage in the creative process, whether through art-making, conversation or a combination of the two.

I believe that meaningful change happens within a consistent, trusting and containing relationship, where you feel safe enough to explore the difficulties you may be facing. For this reason, I feel it's important that we take time to get to know one another.

Experience

I have experience supporting individuals with a wide range of needs and experiences, including: (This list is not exhaustive)
